At Smith Assembly, our commitment to inclusion is strong. Our not-so-secret tools for how we empower and embrace a breadth of perspectives are our Credo and Code of Conduct.

Our Credo

We’re unapologetically inclusive and impact-driven.

We purposefully include and support those who often experience conditions of oppression like BIPOC, members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, people with disabilities, people without formal education, people who live in poverty, and others.

We nurture the pleasure of collaboration.

We feel profound joy when nurturing healthy collaboration and collective growth processes through participation, experiential learning, co-design, compassion, vulnerability, and open communication. We continuously grow through the trust built in safe spaces.

We embrace the discomfort needed for justice to grow.

We recognize the path towards growth and justice requires us to be brave and embrace our own discomfort. We walk the walk, have hard conversations, recognize and amend our mistakes, and acknowledge and address privilege and oppression.

We celebrate and support each other.

We honor and celebrate the gloriously diverse spectrum of human creativity. We amplify the voices, pathways, and actions through which our global community’s gifts, talents, solutions, and passions are changing the world for good.

Our Code Of Conduct

We ask that you...

  • Welcome new experiences and ideas
  • Be compassionate, respectful, and collaborative
  • Be present and contribute your unique ideas and talents
  • Appreciate and value other people’s contributions
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing speech and behavior
